A 2024 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in MDPI Cosmetics investigated the effects of low-molecular-weight collagen peptide supplementation on facial wrinkles and skin hydration in healthy women aged 30 and over. After six weeks, the collagen group showed statistically significant improvements in skin hydration, elasticity, and reduction in visible wrinkle depth compared to placebo.
A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis of 26 randomized controlled trials โ covering 1,721 participants โ found that hydrolyzed collagen supplementation significantly improved skin hydration and elasticity. The optimal dose identified was 2.5โ10 g per day of hydrolyzed collagen peptides.
