A comprehensive meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials published in PubMed found that protein supplementation combined with resistance training produced significantly greater gains in muscle mass and strength than either intervention alone. A separate systematic review on resistance training and mortality risk โ covering over 1.5 million participants โ found that just 30โ60 minutes of strength training per week was associated with a 10โ17% reduction in all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease mortality, and cancer mortality.

Why does resistance training amplify the effects of protein? When you load your muscles mechanically, you trigger muscle protein synthesis (MPS) โ a biological repair and growth response that depends on available amino acids.
